I really enjoyed this video as I really have been needing some guidance when it comes to Mobile Web Design. I currently am a student getting my Associates in Web Design & Development. I know that my field is constantly changing and it is important to keep current with new technologies that are evolving. Keeping in line with the things that I am currently learning, how do I learn all the technologies involved with the design & development of Mobile Web Design & Development. Is it possible to use my knowledge as a Web Designer and apply it directly to the functions of Mobile Web Design? What are some of the programming languages are essential to Mobile Web Application design? I really do want to incorporate Mobile Web Design into my own knowledge base so that when I do start my own Web Design Company, I am able to offer Mobile Web Design to my clients. I know that Mobile Web Design is the incoming “HOT” ticket and again, I really did appreciate your video on this topic.

I really enjoyed watching this video! I have been wondering what it takes to get into Mobile Design. Your discussion gave me the necessary information to see where my focus should be. I truly appreciate how you are willing to share your knowledge and experiences with others!
@Quint – I’m not sure of the programming language for mobile design as I personally only focus on the design. But in regards to learning mobile design, I would start by learning the techniques and trends for certain platforms (not all). Like I would start by focusing on maybe Apple products (iPhone, iPad, etc.). Then take your learnings to focus on Android devices etc. In most cases, designing for the small screen can be leveraged across different platforms.
@Regina – Thanks Regina, glad you found the video useful. Sometimes my videos consist of me thinking out loud, but if you stick through them, you can find a point I’m trying to make most of the time. lol

I am a high school er in Khartoum American School (KAS).
and Im about to graduate the this May. I am a web designer and I am good at it but still kind of a beginner in terms of design, I hope to be a Web designer. Now I have done some projects for companies like http://www.Onyx.co.sd I designed and made the their current Website for free. As you can see they didn’t care to ask for some functionality I did it exactly the way the wanted it. I just got a offer to make a website for an airplane company and soon I want to get some tips on how to start. The website is meant to keep an update and keep track of airplanes landing and taking off. I will get the content soon, kind of show you what my end result before publishing to get some tips on the design. I am good at : Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash basic functions, and Joomla Content Management Systems(CMS).
Questions Id like to ask:
What programs do you use for developing a website?
Do you use Content Management Systems(CMS)?
What tips do you have for a web design beginner ?
@Daoud – Thanks for the comments. For designing my websites, I always use Adobe Fireworks for design, then I use either Dreamweaver or Text Wrangler to code in HTML. I don’t use any CMS other than WordPress for my blog. I normally just build static websites. If I ever had to use a CMS, I would use Perch (a really great/light CMS solution) – http://grabaperch.com/
My advice for you is to just keep at it. You’re in high school?…you have tons of time to perfect and improve your skills. You’re in a great spot. Just keep working at it, keep building free websites, keep learning new tricks. You’ll get better over time.
