Thank you so much for giving many tutorials on web designing. I’ve been watching and learning adobe fireworks when i first saw your videos on youtube. I’ve done some web design and some mock up with it. It cannot match yours but it is fun. Thank you.
I’m having a hard time, probably because your demo is in black and it’s hard to see on the screen…but when I duplicate your instructions I can’t get the bottom to be black…when I hit the transparency it then turns the whole image the lighter grey from the top. Any suggestions??
Hi Michael, I came across your website when trying to figure out how to create an exciting background. Thanks for sharing the info; I’ll check out your tutorials on youtube.
You should export as png. They result in much smaller file sizes and cleaner images when working with graphics than jpg’s do.

i followed your instructions and everything went well until i pressed transparency and the patters disappeared and it was just all the little squares over my chosen colour, any idea what i’m doing wrong?

@Jali – Thanks for the nice words. Glad you’re able to pick up a few things from my tutorials. Hope to continue to put out more.

@ Debi – You have to make sure your canvas is set to black. Then when you hit transparency, the black background appears.

Awesome tutorial. Especially since you suggested a site, and then showed step by step how to use the pattern, thanks !
One question did you mean opacity instead of transparent?
