This week’s favorite website goes to Cambridge Health. This site displays an excellent use of stock photos along with amazing color combinations and overall design execution. Definitely a site to keep in the archives for future inspiration.

Hi, I'm Michael Locke, UI Designer, Instructor and Blogger. I have over 15 years of web design experience with high proficiencies in front-end web development (XHTML/CSS), UI/UX design, brand development, internet marketing, social media marketing, video marketing, photography, SEO concepts and traditional print design among other things.
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the continue good work you do!! This is a beautiful site especially since it’s in the usually ugly medical websites world!
Lenin – so true. Also, what impressed me most about the site is the use of quality stock photos. The stock photo used in the site cost about $50 bucks (for the main hero shot), but you can see that it makes all the difference in the overall design compared to most “cheesy” overused stock images.
Hey Mike how did you know it was a stock photo? A great example of using stock images for sure and a great way to see examples of what price gets you.
Also love their use of the apple screen and the paralax scrolling. Something I’m set to learn by the end of the year. :)
Hey Kris, I was just curious if it was stock photo or just a professional shot so I ran a quick search on istockphoto.com. The reason I call out the fact that is was a stock photo is to show that anyone can create a beautiful interface with stock images. I tend to dislike stock photos, but this site gives me hope that you can still do great work with nice photos out there. The reality is that you have to spend a little on these photos but in the end, its worth it. Makes all the difference in my opinion.
The stock photo may have been color picked for the whole site as well.
What would tip me off is, real doctors don’t usually have the time to do things like posing.
(I’m really liking the online course too Mike. I’m not exactly a novice at this, and I’ve already picked up html and css points I never knew!!!)
@OlympiaLogger – Thanks man for joining my program. And I’m glad you can learn a few nuggets as well.
This (your) is a pretty cool site. I’m trying to learn web design from scratch if that’s possible. Did you notice that the Cambridge Health site only allows you to scroll about halfway down the page? I couldn’t get to #3 in Chrome or I.E.
