Friday Favorite –

Its been tough to come up with consistent Friday Favorites lately. Many of the sites these days are similar in style and content. is a good one this week. I love VW’s fun, innovative and polished UI Design and interaction. Starting with the uncommon vertical navigation, this site is great because its simple, clean (using a combination of flat UI elements with accents of depth), user friendly and beautiful color scheme (white space, soft greys, vibrant blues, etc.). Not to mention the interaction throughout the site is right on point. This site has many bells and whistles not pictured below. Visit the site and play around, its a great experience. Very nice design to keep in your archives of inspiration.

Wow what a great site. I’m a huge fan of white space. Love the sidebar nav and the interaction is smooth.

I didn’t like being taken away from the site when clicking the read more options in the news feed, their first three boxes but looks like they got lots of news :)

Not to pick on a great design but that submit button sticks out as it’s text isn’t styled the same as the other CTA’s. I only point that out because it reminds me how my little details will stick out too if not caught. (and I have more imperfections)

Great pick mike. Coming back to this one for inspiration for sure.

I’m starting to really like side navigation. I think it works really well in the age of responsive design.

    Also – great cars.

    Thanks Mike

@Kris – Good design insight there. Agree with you on those points.

@Steven – Thanks, glad you like this pick.

@Ben – Yes, the side navigation we’re starting to see more sites experiment with that option. Because the side nav is standard on mobile devices, I’m sure we’ll start to see it more and more.

@Madere – Yes, totally a hybrid of website/mobile app. It definitely has that feel.
